MARU Media Player Privacy Policy
This policy explains how the Android application MARU Media Player handles device media, app settings, account or license information, and optional online AI features.
Effective date: July 23, 2026 · Operator: IGDC Global
Android only. This policy covers MARU Media Player distributed through Google Play. It does not describe Apple, iPhone, iPad, iOS, or App Store services.
This English version is the governing version. Translations are provided for convenience; if wording differs, the English version prevails.
1. Scope
MARU Media Player is a local video and audio player for Android. It lets users browse and play media stored on their device, load subtitles, display lyrics, remember playback preferences, and, when separately available and explicitly requested, use online AI subtitle, translation, or dubbing functions.
The app does not provide movies, music, subtitles, or other media content. Users are responsible for having the right to access and use the files they select.
2. Device permissions and local files
The app may request access to videos, audio, selected visual media, folders, and files so it can perform functions chosen by the user.
- Browse local video and audio files
- Create or display thumbnails
- Open subtitle files such as SRT, SMI, ASS, SSA, VTT, or text-based subtitle files
- Search for or import LRC/TXT lyrics
- Remember a user-selected folder or file location
- Permission may be denied or withdrawn in Android settings. Some browsing or playback functions may then be unavailable.
3. Information stored on the device
The app may store operational preferences locally, including:
- Selected app and subtitle language
- Playback position and folder resume information
- Selected folder URI or path labels
- Subtitle access and first-run notice status
- Playback and display preferences
- Temporary subtitle, audio, dubbing, thumbnail, or cache files
- This information is used to operate the app and can generally be removed by clearing app storage or uninstalling the app.
4. Optional online AI features
AI subtitle generation, subtitle translation, and dubbing are optional online features. They may be unavailable until service, license, and payment requirements are activated. Merely playing a local file does not send that media online.
When a user explicitly starts an AI feature, the app may send the following to IGDC-operated server functions:
- Media-derived audio segments or a selected audio source needed for subtitle generation
- Subtitle or script text needed for translation or dubbing
- Media or subtitle file name, requested language, timing information, file type, and processing settings
- Session token, account identity or email, user/member ID, license key, feature name, app version, and platform
- An Android device identifier used for entitlement, abuse prevention, and license validation
- Generated results may be returned to the device and stored locally. Do not submit content unless you are authorized to process it.
5. Account, session, license, and payment status
If the app is opened through an IGDC sign-in or authorization link, it may receive and store a session token, account identity, user/member ID, or license key. These values are used to verify role, plan, feature access, and credit or payment entitlement with the server.
The app may link to an external payment or account page. Payment-card details are not entered into the local media player itself unless a future version clearly states otherwise.
6. Sharing and service providers
IGDC does not sell personal information to advertisers. Information is shared only as needed to provide requested online functions, maintain security, verify access, process payments through approved providers, comply with law, or protect users and the service.
Local playback may use Android media components and open-source libraries, including AndroidX Media3 and VLC/libVLC. The current app is not designed to use an advertising identifier or behavioral advertising SDK.
7. Retention and deletion
Local preferences, cache, and generated files remain on the device until the app removes them, the user clears app storage, or the app is uninstalled.
Server-side request, entitlement, and AI processing records may be retained only for the period reasonably necessary to provide the service, troubleshoot failures, prevent abuse, settle credits or payments, meet security requirements, and comply with legal obligations.
Requests concerning server-side personal information or account deletion may be sent to the contact address below. IGDC may verify the requester before acting.
8. Security
IGDC uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards for information handled by its online services. Internet transmission and electronic storage cannot be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should protect their device, account, and media files.
9. Children
MARU Media Player is a general-purpose media utility and is not directed specifically to children. IGDC does not knowingly request that a child submit personal information through optional online features without appropriate authorization. A parent or guardian may contact IGDC regarding a child’s information.
10. International processing
Online service data may be processed in countries where IGDC or its infrastructure providers operate. Applicable safeguards and legal requirements will be followed when personal information is transferred across borders.
11. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when app functions, data practices, providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are published.
